The Arabic manuscript that Galand was translating wasn't the version we know today. It only contained about 40 stories, and was missing two very important tales. The Arabic manuscript does not have Aladdin and the wonderful Aunt Raleigh Baba and the 40 Thieves. According to Galand, these stories came from somewhere else, from a man he wrote about in his private diary. He records that a Syrian named Hana would have come to him and he would have made a series of times in 1709,. This man was named Hana Diab.
