Is Heart Failure a Cause of Panic Attacks?
Some people are better at sensing their heart than others. But most people can understand when their heart is racing or pounding. And in fact the sensing of your heart having this kind of racing is enough to amplify your fear, for example. So if you play recording of a racing heart to somebody and you tell them it's their heart, you can even precipitate a panic attack in that case. The tiny plexus of nerves inside the heart which has both sensing nerves as well as nerves to receive messages from your brain. It can tell your brain you're frightened in that sense.
