Selena Gomez was born on July 22, 1992 to her Mexican-American dad Ricardo Joel Gomez and her Texas-born mum Mandy Teafy. Her parents were also young, her mum was just 16 when she had Selena, and her parents split when she was just 5 years old. After that split Selena lived with her mum in Grand Prairie, Texas. At the age of 7 Selena said she convinced her mum to take her to an open call for Barney and friends. She booked her first acting job right there.
