Ralph talks to writer and editor colling kinder, whose book letter to a stranger comes out today. Each essay in the book is constructed as a letter to some person whom the author can't stop thinking about for some reason. We talk about how places like plains, trains and hostiles open you up to encounters with strangers. And we speculate on what certain strangers must think of us. At one point, i talk about the christian girl who united a lounge full of travellers in a d c hostel. I also talk about the porn star i met on the subway the first time i ever took it in new york.
