The Sixth Great Extinction

The heat pulse from the impact is believed by many to have burnt most of the forests. The amount of dust in the atmosphere meant that photo synthesis was gone for probably about two or three years. Food chains on land collapsed, but food chains in the sea were a little bit more resilient because they're based on detritus.
