The Effects of Self-Organized Critical Behaviour on Forest Fires

The study was rejected from three papers before it was published in Science. It looked at the distribution of big, medium, and small forest fires. What we found was an underlining distribution that was quite different than what was in common literature. This idea of not thinking of natural hazards as single hazards but rather as groups of natural hazards occur over time and in space as groupings.
