The Prediction of 1.5 Degrees Warming

This year we've also had this prediction that temperatures will rise by 1.5 degrees. Could you explain what that means? It doesn't mean anything for any specific place, it's not an indication that it was supposed to be 43 today is going to be 44.5. So global average, some places will heat much more and some places willheat much less.
