The Future of Local Government Review

New Zealand has a particular problem with the way our local governments operate, how they're funded and how big they are. It means that we have failed repeatedly and deeply to invest in our infrastructure for the last 30 years. There was a future of local government review set up by local government minister Na'ana Mahuta a few years ago. This was done pretty much at the same time as three waters being launched. Now, as I mentioned at the start, we could have spent a lot of time talking about three waters but in essence, three waters was putting the cart before the horse. You might not have heard of it, but actually it matters.
