The Priesthood of the Firstborn of the People of Israel
The Levitical priesthood, which dominates most of the Old Testament, was a plan B from the beginning. The firstborn sons of Israel were consecrated through the Passover to be ministerial priests in worship. Jesus takes responsibilities or prerogatives that used to belong to the Old Testament priesthood and bestows them on the apostles.
