Sonic lifted a lot of it's aesthetic for Mega Man is the truth. And I think that's not a bad thing. If you if you're going to play a Mega Man and you haven't ever played any of the old ones, this is the one I would say you should start with. The boss fights in Mega Man X are all pretty cookie cutter. They kind of all do the same set of moves. But compare it to a game of like around the same time Super Castlevania - they really took the boss fights in interesting directions.
