The Language of Film Music

Music really works in a space where language stops. What you can do in film is often play against what the audience is expecting. A lot of horror films use synths because it's quite hard for the human brain to place where that sound came from. Other times he's trying to convey something more abstract. Sometimes I'm thinking in terms of textures and you know do I feel like this is a soft orky texture is it a hard metallic texture? You might actually go looking for something metal and go and hit it... Or am I looking for something very short and sort of thing?"
