Sugar Mills - The First Assembly Line in History
On large plantations, the cutting milling, boiling distilling cycle went on day and night for five months. It was said by a sugar scholar, Sydney Mintz, to be probably the first assembly line in history. Every inch of what you did, every second of your day, pretty much programmed and timed and counted. This is causing a lot of enslaved laborers limbs to be cut off accidentally because of the labor.
