The Importance of People Pleasing
Marlene: As a South Asian daughter, there was always this expectation to kind of be there for my family and uphold sort of these are good and honorable traits. And I think that just comes up with our finances too in the realm of people pleasing. We're overspending on gifts and a phenomenon that I kind of see with my clients as well as sort of this financial savior complex. She says it's more like the being a kid of immigrant parents, which is our parents for so long,. worked really hard to give us the opportunities that we get.
