Is There a Black Character in This Comic Strip?
In 1968, Shultz decided to write a black character in his comic strip. He introduced Franklin and introduces him at the beach with Charlie Brown. In 1970, southern newspaper editors started writing syndicate saying it was too much of an issue. Schultz's response: "If we lose some newspapers, then we lose some papers"
