Etchian Brule was born around 1592 in Champignier-sur-Marne in France. He essentially pops up in New France right around the founding of Quebec in 1608. In 1610, a young Brule went to Champlain and proposed that he go live with the here on Indians where he would learn their language,. For Champlain, this is exactly what he wanted. It was an insightful and effective strategy concocted by Champlain as it integrated two peoples into each other's lives.
