Are There Gravitational Quantum Fields?

We don't know what was the state of the universe when gravity as really strong and very important early on. We do have a pretty nice picture of what happens like after the universe drops in temperature to a point where it, like, turns into particles. But before that it starts to cool off, does it even make sense to talk about energy as we know it? And so you can possibly think about it in terms like weird new quantum fields - but we just don't know if any of those theories are at all accurate.
