The Importance of Delay in Music
Bob Geldof says the delay on Bowie's "Let's dance" is because of a physical distance between him and the mic. He was in the studio trying to get the delay time off the snare drum, when he heard Rogers and Bowie were in the other room. The pair came running and went, what was that? 'I'm just trying toget the delay for your vocal on the snare, you know, off thesnare drum' They ended up putting in the delay on like everything on the track,. You go back and listen to that. It's just full of delays. And it sounds so incredible.
