There's a tension between short and long term development. Women in science tend to be discouraged because they're told like they won't be taken seriously. I was really fascinated by the work on desirable difficulties, which are strategies that make learning feel sometimes less fluent but more flexible later on. And then not that those exceptions don't exist; it's important for people to know what's the norm and what's the exception.
