Crusading in the Middle Ages
Taking the cross in the middle ages is no joke. It's a deal with God, brokered by the Pope and it doesn't come cheap. Stories are rife of how God punishes cowards who either won't take the cross or get cold feet. Richard makes his vows in 1187; there's a big crusading recruitment drive in Wales.
