In the lab, people tend not to have a great sense of what andeness looks like. But when we start looking at what happens in real life, they think there is no such thing as a hot hand. One study found that nba players were 13 per cent more likely to make their next shot if they'd had three previous misses. The story almost became around how people see a hot hand when one doesn't exist. It also became a story of how, once they were shown the truth, they were unable to accept it.
