The BMA and the RCGP on the Worsening Workforce Crisis
In some places more than two thirds of the full-time equivalent GP workforce is made up of partners. In other areas, that falls to just half. If GPs can't be brought in to take on the running of practices as existing partners retire, there's obviously an increased risk of practices merging or closing. The BMA and RCGP said general practice was at breaking point. And they've called for a plan that goes well beyond the promise of 6,000 extra GPs from last Conservative manifesto.
