CHAPTER

A Grand Theory of the Brain?

A question from a listener. jeffre short, and i'm a mechanical engineer whos jut export field in europe science. My question is rather th potential role of prediction in a hierarchical control system model of the brain. Many of the other models involving minimization of error resulting from comparison of top down and bottom up signals emphasize prediction. So can you comment on why you favor a model that doesn't emphasize prediction, and if there are any experiments that could be, or have been done, to lend credence either? Do you feel like taking a stab at that? Ye, i suppose i can do that.
