Is This a Colorblind Person's Gene?
Most people have three cells or receptors in our retinas, but Tetra chromats have a fourth receptor and that may be what allows for their heightened color perception. It's also estimated that about 12% of women in the world carry the gene for this fourth receptor. Researchers are still trying to figure out what's going on with this; there aren't any hard numbers on how it manifests itself.
