The Importance of Family Background in the Writing Process
Eilif: I was born in France, but my parents separated shortly afterwards. I came to Turkey with my mother, and thereafter I was raised by my mother and my grandmother. As you pointed out, there were very different women. What stayed with me very vividly is that these women supported each other. And I do know that when and if women support each other, especially at difficult moments in their lives, the impact of that solidarity goes beyond generations.
