How to Increase the Pressure Without Changing the Volume?

Faraday was able to liquefy gases with high critical temperatures such as chlorine, hydrogen, bromide, and carbon dioxide. He used a brute force method that he actually used to do said pressurization. The goal is to have the pressure increase more than the volume decreases in like proportional terms.
