The Strange Situation Procedure
In 19 65, she designed this experiment called the strange situation procedure as a way to assess differences in attachment behavior by putting the individual in a place of stress. She created a catalogue of behaviors that she observed, like crying when the mother left the room, following her, greeting her upon return with smiling, vocalization, bouncing, reaching approach behavior. So each of the styles implies different forms of emotional regulation and ways of responding to perceived threats. And what is really interesting is that in all these cases, the baby was not stressed depending on how he or she responded,. even if it didn't care at all during this time period.
