How to Think Well in a Community

C.S. Lewis is the person who has thought most profoundly and usefully about these matters, he says. He dramatizes that in his novel That Hidias Strength. When you are connected to people whose approval you desire but who demand from you strict adherence to a narrow set of ideas, then you will not learn to think for yourself. So how does one learn to think well in a community? And particularly if you find yourself in a community a fairly lackluster thinkers? For me, that is essential. I always tell students when people come to Baylor, high school students come to Baylor,. they are trying to decide whether to go to the honors program.
