Punic Carthage
In 424 AD, the Vandals crossed into North Africa from Spain and overran much of the coastal belt. They captured Carthage in 434 AD and established their own kingdom there. Evidence exists that the Vandals themselves might have played an active part in their representation as the heirs of Africa's Punic inheritance. The coinage reveals a bold attempt to seize control of the traditional Roman imperial narrative.
