Kubrick spent a fair amount of time trying to depict the aliens, right? And he had, he was going to create a race of aliens based on, I think, a Geocometi sculptures. The choice isn't motivated primarily by like, if only we had better and special effects than we do. No, I would totally agree. I think the result is better no matter what they could have done.
