The Importance of Imagining a Positive Future
I would say from an emotional point of view the reason I'm optimistic is if you look at the history of the last 400 years there is a clear positive gradient that doesn't mean this that will continue. There has been so much progress in the last few hundred years on just all fronts basically a all-front progress and I feel as though it doesn't really require any imagination to be optimistic except to believe that current trends will continue. Maybe the way to make people optimistic is just to concentrate on great successes at the past just the huge number of inspirational things that are not civilization has done.
