When i was young, i never dreamed of being a scientist because girls weren't scientists back then. In 19 86, i helped put together a conference where we brought the people studying chimps from different parts of africa. First it was just me. By 86, i think there were six other study sigts. And we had one session on conservation. It was just a total shock. I mean, everywhere, habitats,. where forests were disappearing, chimp numbers were dropping. So i left asa anactivist, i suppose, an advocate, whatever. You know, i shouldn't give chimps names. They should have numbers. But in the end, although i was criticised
