There was this kind of reckoning after Vietnam, I think your point about the draft is really true. The casualty count was higher in part because just Madison, Battlefield, Madison saved a lot more lives in Iraq than they did in Vietnam. But I think also just the scale of incompetence, and because it's hard to admit when you were that wrong about something, you know? And America just has not wanted to confront that.
