What's the Right Heart Function in This Patient?
If we're using any of these agents, you probably should have a cardiac anesthesiologist or a cardiologist with you. And certainly if we are needing to augment her contractility, doing so may improve her blood pressure and her SVR. What else are you thinking about as you're evaluating heart function in these patients? I'm also thinking about the filling. So how is she handling these volume changes? Is the right heart really stretched? Is the left heart full enough? Are the right heart failing and not enough bloods getting over to the left heart?
