The Lord's table isn't just a promise of food later while we starve now, it's in the presence of our enemies. Jesus took hell for us so that he could give us the feast of heaven. The only rule for guests at Jesus' table is to come empty-handed. We don't bring macaroni salad and soda. We bring hunger. Are you hungry? Are you tired of trying to polish up your life so that you can be good enough? Well, if we can't deserve it, we'll just have to receive it.
