In the early twentieth century, woodrow wilso a was one of the first officials to identify the emotional power of movies. And he talks about how the movie can become this arm and at that same time, hollywood was described as an adjunct of the state department. But you could see other countries might then, in later decades, become a little bit paranoid about all these american movies being shown where they are,. because they might want their own domestic film minustries to o compete as well. So it seems like both things were going on. It was kind of like a marriage of a still youthful country and a young new cultural industry.
