Jared: It's surprising that given their reliance on Android, as it is to them as a company, I'm surprised that it was a third party to introduce change instead of them. Even though they've had successful languages and successful things, I was surprised that too. Jared: And the open source totally helps. The first version of Android Studio came out with zero lines of contracts signed between us and Google concerning this. With Kotlin, they wanted some more assurances.
