What Is Better Than Stoicism?
I enjoy this meditation because it reminds us of what is at stake in our practice. What could be better than possessing a tamed and settled mind? Is a crashing sea better than a placid, peaceful lake? Perhaps for the purposes of teaching us lessons in life, but where would you prefer to build your home? On an island constantly overcome by sunamis and storms? Or on the shores of a serene lake?"
