Superstition and Exploitation in Historical Jewish Communities

This chapter examines the superstition and fanaticism that characterized Polish Jewry between 1500 and 1795, alongside the exploitation of the poor by the affluent within their community. It critiques the impact of Jewish autonomy on intellectual freedom and the oppression of peasants, while advocating for liberation from external and internal constraints.
