The Origins of Eugenics

During this first wave, the aim was to prevent degeneration. H.G. Wells's 1895 book, The Time Machine was a story of degeneration. So there absolutely was a racial aspect of this. One popular theory going back to the 18th century is that humanity originally started as completely white. And then it spread out, we spread out around the globe and then various groups degenerated. And that's why you get various non white races.
