The Pain of Being Excluded
The brain has this threat detection system that comes in kind of three broad categories. It's really five, but we simplified it to three, but it's still accurate. And you can actually, you know, remember and use it every day this way. The first level of threat is like a little bit of alertness, but you're not alarmed. You actually do most kinds of work better when faced with social threats. People are in positive stress states or what you were talking about recently.
