The Suppression of Psychic Ability in Christianity

Christianity has a long tradition in terms of psychic phenomenon. People still speak in tongues and do all sorts of unique things that somebody outside or uninitiated into the mysteries of Christianity might find that to be strange and unusual. Do you think it was a Christian thing that took this out of our genetic makeup or at least our ability to express it? I don't know what else to call it other than a suppression. Sure. But if you look at it on an individual level like someone being Christian today is not going to suppress their psychic ability. If that's what you think I'm saying which is totally not what I'm saying.
