How Dropbox's Referral Program Was Successful

There's always a little room for judgment in here. None of these data sources are perfect, right? You have correlation, not causality in many, many cases. Quantitative can tell you what in the qualitative will tell you why often. I do think there's a lot to learn from Dropbox in terms of what worked for them. The first thing is they found a mechanism, an incentive, that actually fit what users wanted.
