The History of AOL's Relationship With the Web

AOL has always had a schizophrenic relationship with the web. In some ways this was in tension with AOL's carefully cultivated online community. By late 1995, Microsoft had developed its own online service, Dub the Microsoft Network or MSN. The question now was whether or not that much of a lead would be enough to hold off the Microsoft hordes.
