Dr. Ermmann's Candidacy for the Moderator Ship of the General Assembly

Machin: I continued to have the highest personal respect for Dr. Ermmann and there seemed to me to be not the slightest reason why he should not continue in the pleasantest personal relations with his colleagues. Machin goes on, it is perhaps unnecessary to ask whether this newspaper report is at this point verbally accurate. But was it a crime to oppose Dr.Ermmann as a candidate for the moderator ship? If it was, then certainly I stand convicted. To hold that,I think, would destroy all liberty of conscience in the church.
