In chicago, it was very commontat to build a space for storage or delivery of coal under the public sidewalk. Tim felt certain that was the kind of vault in the basement of the lexington. The thing about a sidewalk vault is it can be a bit of a problem overtime. If it's not well maintained, these sidewalk vaults would start to leak. When that happened, workers would typically cave in the vaults and fill them with whatever they could find. So now the sidewalk vault is gone. And i said, torture chamber? This is the electrical closet. This is where the fuse boxes were. Oh, come on, folks.
