There is a tool that's used in the free diving community to measure stress levels. It tells you how well you're controlling your diaphragm using something called a phrenic nerve. If it's anywhere from zero to 20 seconds, your stress level is high. But longer than 40 seconds means you have good control over your carbon dioxide system more or less.
