Is There a Money Factor in Contributing to Open Source?

Some open source companies and projects split up any like, money from donations or funds among the contributors. It's pretty good resume material for newer developers who are trying to get their foot in the door. I know some people who have gotten jobs because of their open source contributions where they said, oh, i actually added the login with discord feature to supa base. Now they work there.
