The Importance of Transparency in Teaching
When I knew that a kid was struggling but working hard, I knew which lessons I could tell them to jump. But I still wanted those students that could be pushed really hard to expect that they had to master every single lesson in the unit. So ultimately it's a teacher discretion question. And I've seen it done very well in both.
