There is this beautiful little golden run between the years of 1945 and 1975. We have the shotgun marriage of Von Hayek to Polanyi with John Maynard Keynes either giving the blessing or holding the shotgun. And things are growing much faster than before, except for this little cold war going on there. Humanity is getting closer to utopia extremely rapidly. But in that counterfactual world, we never get 30 glorious years of social democracy after World War II. We get a society that's much, much worse.
