Baidi is China's biggest search engine. It has a business model that is quite similar to Google's and in recent years it's sort of been lagging behind some of its Chinese rivals in the tech industry. They've been sitting on a lot of AI technologies that are based in natural language processing which is what chat GPT is. The moment that came out they saw their opportunity and they're currently gunning to develop a similar chatbot like experience for their search engine, deployed in March for Chinese consumers.
